Minutes of Previous Meeting

Agreed.

Meeting 13th May 2005

It was agreed that the start time for the breakfast meeting needed to be rearranged for 7.15am for a 7.30am start as we were pushed for time.

The headmistress from a local school was keen to take part in the meetings, however, was unable to attend today’s meeting. It would appear that the school is keen to get involved with local business as to give students the opportunity of having a deeper understanding of business through work experience.

It was agreed that the local Job Centre should be invited to give a presentation on how the Job Centre works, its procedures and how it can assist local business.

Russel Slater will be invited to attend the September meeting.

There was some discussion that meetings after September should then follow on bi-monthly. This was in fact agreed and Sue Natrass is to ensure that the Retford Town Hall is booked accordingly.

Roger Flack is to liaise with Sue Natrass following today’s meetings in order to gain the appropriate feedback. This will then allow Roger to submit an Editorial piece for the Retford Times. The feedback was excellent and everyone had enjoyed the meeting.

It is imperative that we are represented by the Retail sector, Richard Hunt and Roger Pennington will be invited to attend the next committee meeting.

There is to be a new Town Centre Manager, he/she will also be invited to join the committee.

Streets have kindly volunteered to be the Retford Business Club’s Events Co-coordinators. They will oversee all administration for all events run by the club.

James Pinchbeck is to speak with Keith Gurling in order that the constitution for the club can be arranged. Gary Throw is unable to assist with the constitution due to heavy work commitments.

Discussion took place in respect of the Retford Farmers possibly sponsoring the breakfast by providing produce. James H. will make the appropriate enquiries.

Guest speakers for the 15th July will be:

Patrick Mercer
Dave Kitchen - Postal Services
Robin Hood Airport – Speaker to be arranged.

James Pinchbeck will approach Malcolm Feeby to ascertain his availability.

Coleen will chair July’s meeting.

Sue Natrass and James Pinchbeck will run the September meeting which will include rural issues.

Invitations will be sent to local shops.

Their will be a forum page on the web site for committee members, and a privacy page. The minutes from committee meetings will also be available on the web site.

Apologies for not attending meetings will also have to be registered in advance (unless in an emergency), on the web site.

Coleen expressed concerns following the circulation of her e-mail referring to attendance at meetings. As a result, committee meetings will now follow immediately after the breakfast meetings.

It was also pointed out that if any member had joined the committee for their own personal gain, then there was no place for them on the committee and that they should resign their position forthwith.

The Retford Business Club Barbecue will be held at Coleen’s home on the 3rd September 2005. Coleen is to liaise with Ian and Leslie of the Bassetlaw Hospice in order to get things organised.

Overall, the meeting went very well with positive feedback from everyone concerned!!!

Next Meeting will be the 15th July 2005 at the Retford Town Hall, 7.15am for a 7.30 start.
