"Great Speakers - Great Turnout!"

Date: 15 July 2005

The breakfast meeting held on 15th July was a major step forward for the business club with more than 40 in attendance.

The speakers were excellent with Patrick Mercer, the MP for Newark and Sherwood and the Shadow Home Land Security Minister, opening the meeting.

He spoke about the recent events in London and how community integration would play a big part in the future.

The club expresses our thanks to Mr Mercer for his support, especially as he had been taking questions on BBCs Newsnight the previous evening.

Other speakers were, Dave Kitchen from the Post Office, who spoke of the above average postal service which the bassetlaw region was experiencing.

Many attendees were keen to raise issues regarding the role of rural post offices.

The final speaker was a representative from Tuxford School, talking about providing hands-on business experience for young students within the local community. This covered Work Experience placements to Young Enterprise schemes and they were very keen to hear from anyone who could provide any assistance.

The meeting was held at Retford Town Hall. Entry was £2 per person, taken to cover the venue and refreshments. A range of hot breakfast sandwiches were also provided for a small charge, bookable in advance.

If you wish to attend a future meeting, please do not hesitate to register on the website and you will be informed of future meetings.
